The Centre of Horseback Combat
About this yard
There is genuinely nowhere else in England quite like the Centre of Horseback Combat. Set on the historic Gaddesden Estate, 2,000 acres of Hertfordshire countryside, on a traditional 1700s stable yard, the centre specialises in mounted archery, stunt riding and Cossack trick riding on specially trained horses. A 180-metre international-standard archery run is the centrepiece, with courses from beginner half-days through to advanced weekends and national competition events. The riding school licence is inspected annually by vets, tack and equipment are audited, and livery is available for those who want their horse kept somewhere genuinely out of the ordinary.
