About this yard

Wildwoods Riding Centre is a BHS/ABRS approved riding school set in 19 acres in Tadworth, established by Anthea Chambers since 1976 and now in its 50th year. The centre is a BHS Training and Assessment Centre for Stages 2 and 3 and holds Pony Club and Accessibility Mark status. Two outdoor arenas, a jumping paddock with full showjumps, a cross-country course (up to 90cm), a Racewood dressage simulator ("Trojan"), and extensive off-road hacking across Epsom Downs and the Woodland Trust Centenary Forest.

Current 2025 prices: Adult group 1hr £55 weekday / £60 weekend; Adult private 1hr £95/£105; Adult private 30min £60/£65; Kids group 1hr £50/£55; Kids lead pony ride 30min £35/£40. Hacks: 1hr group £55/£60, 1.5hr £75/£80, 2hr £95/£105. Open Tuesday to Sunday 8am–6pm. 48-hour cancellation policy.

What to wear

Standard guidance for equestrian yards in the UK. Check with your yard if you're unsure.

Riding helmet

A correctly fitted hat to current safety standards (PAS 015 or VG1). Bicycle helmets are not permitted. Hats are available to hire, usually reserved for first-time riders.

Footwear

Boots with a small heel, riding boots, walking boots or wellies all work. Trainers and flat-soled shoes are not permitted for safety reasons.

Clothing

Close-fitting, weather-appropriate clothes. Shoulders and legs must be covered, no vest tops or shorts. Jackets and coats should be fastened securely. Waterproofs are recommended for outdoor lessons.

Hair & jewellery

Long hair should be tied back in a ponytail before putting on your helmet. All jewellery must be removed before riding.
