Equestrian Venues in Gloucestershire

Gloucestershire is Cotswolds riding at its most classic. Drystone wall country, limestone downland and rolling arable farmland provide riding terrain that has shaped the county's equestrian culture for generations. The county's proximity to national showgrounds and a well-developed affiliated dressage and showjumping circuit makes it a popular base for competition riders. Cheltenham, famous for its racecourse, anchors the county's racing culture, while venues in the Vale of Severn, around Cirencester and on the Cotswold escarpment serve a varied rider base. The Forest of Dean to the west offers entirely different bridleway riding through ancient broadleaved woodland.
